KMB Presents Safe Driving Award to Promote Safe Driving Culture
As a public transport operator, KMB is dedicated to providing passengers with safe and reliable bus journeys. Besides continuously improving the design of buses and implementing a stringent maintenance programme for the fleet, KMB also places great emphasis on bus captain training and the promotion of safe driving. To recognise the achievements of bus captains in road safety, KMB launched the Safe Driving Award. In 2009, 824 bus captains with "zero accident" * records for five years or more received the award.
Among the award-winning bus captains, 781 of them have achieved a "zero accident" record for five to 15 years, with another 43 for up to 20 years or more. Thirteen of them have even achieved a "zero accident" record for up to 25 years or more. All award-winning bus captains were presented with a certificate of appreciation and a badge, while bus captains with a "zero accident" record for 20 years or more also received a plaque.
KMB values the quality and driving manner of bus captains, and continues to invest heavily in the training of bus captains. Starting from last year, a simulator training session was incorporated in the bus captain training programme. By simulating emergency scenarios under different driving environments, weather and traffic conditions, the system helps to enhance bus captains' discernment and precision in driving.
The Safe Driving Award was first introduced in 1990 and is organised annually with the aim of promoting the importance of road safety.
* "zero accident" refers to no-liability accidents
