KMB Bus Stop Announcement System Equipped with More Passenger Messages
To enhance communications with passengers, all KMB buses are equipped with the Bus Stop Announcement System. Additional pre-recorded messages have been added to the System recently, providing reminders for passengers’ convenience and contributing to the provision of safe and comfortable bus journeys.
KMB instituted the Bus Stop Announcement System in 1998, broadcasting the name of the next bus stop in Cantonese, English and Putonghua, while displaying the corresponding bus stop name in Chinese and English on LED screens at the front of each deck.
KMB added the function of passenger information messages to the system in 2003. With the newly-added message, “Please fold up the baby pram”, there are now 12 messages, including tips for passengers such as “Please hold the handrails”, “Take care of children/elderly”, “Seats available on upper deck”, “No eating and drinking” and “Stand behind the yellow line”, and bus service messages like “Traffic diversion” and “Bus service is suspended due to mechanical breakdown”. Bus captains will broadcast different messages in different situations as reminders to passengers.
The entire KMB fleet of around 4,000 buses is now equipped with the Bus Stop Announcement System. KMB Bus Stop Announcement System Equipped with More Passenger Messages
