KMB Website Wins Gold in Web Care Award
The KMB website (www.kmb.hk) won gold again this year in the Web Care Award 2009 organised by the Internet Professional Association. The Award was established to encourage both public service organisations as well as private business corporations to build no-barrier web sites and a digitally-inclusive society.
KMB has spent a great deal of effort in bridging the digital divide, in the hope of helping those with special needs to gain access to information technology. In this pursuit, the company has participated in the Web Care Campaign since its launch in 2002. The new look KMB website launched in December last year further breaks down digital barriers with special arrangements on the words, layout and browsing format. Every photo is captioned and can be listened to with the installation of special software. A keyboard shortcut is also available for the visually impaired and browsers with special needs. KMB’s endeavour to bridge the digital divide reflects its ongoing commitment of caring for the society.
The KMB website provides a wide range of KMB information which is updated regularly. The website is equipped with an on-line map search function, as well as items on “Leisure”, “KMB Nostalgia” and interactive games, suitable for both adults and kids. The average daily hit rate of the KMB website reaches 13 million.
