“Friends of KMB” Participated in Elderly Service

Under the arrangement of the Suicide Prevention Services, “Friends of KMB” (FRN) recently visited the elderly who live alone in a number of housing estates, including Kwai Fong Estate, Kwai Shing (East) Estate and Kwai Chung Estate. Besides chatting with the elderly and showing concern and care for their daily lives and health, members of FRN also gave them tailor-made gifts, which included rice, calendars, hands warmers as well as a piece of handicraft.

One of the elderly who participated in the event said, “I knew how to make those chains when I was young. However, I can’t do it anymore now due to weakened eyesight. I wanted to have one when I saw others putting it on their handbag as a decoration. I am so happy to be given one today.”

“Friends of KMB” is a volunteer organisation established by KMB. Besides encouraging members to be self-disciplined and to help and serve others by observing simple civic duties when travelling with KMB, the club has also organised various charitable events and social service activities for its members in the hope of promoting the spirit of social concern and care for others.
