KMB Launches the Leyland Olympian 11-metre Air-conditioned Bus Models
In the mid 1980s, KMB started to introduce the Leyland Olympian 11-metre 3-axle double deck bus which was highly manoeuvrable and had a high passenger capacity. In 1988, KMB introduced the first air-conditioned version of this model, which was well received by passengers and performed well. KMB therefore bought another 149 buses of the same model in early 1990, serving routes 1, 1A, 6, 68X and 74X. Some of the Leyland Olympian air-conditioned buses in the early 1990s were fitted out with a luggage rack and allocated to Route A2, which served Kai Tak Airport, running on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
KMB is launching for the first time two kinds of Leyland Olympian 11m double deck air-conditioned bus model. One model carries a Route 74X route plate (operating between Kwun Tong Ferry and Tai Po Central), while the other, equipped with a luggage rack, carries a Route A2 route plate (operating between Kai Tak Airport and Central). Production of both models is limited to 1,000 pieces and each model comes with a certificate of worldwide guarantee of limited production. The price of each bus model is HK$298. Since the quantity is limited, those interested in purchasing the model are advised to act quickly.
The public is welcome to visit the following KMB Customer Service Centres to purchase the bus model: Tsuen Wan Railway Station Bus Terminus (near the Station Supervisor’s Room), Sha Tin Town Centre Bus Terminus, Tuen Mun Town Centre Bus Terminus, Lam Tin Railway Station Bus Terminus, Mei Foo Bus Terminus, Star Ferry Bus Terminus, the Bus Interchange at the Hung Hom Cross Harbour Tunnel, and Tin Heng Bus Terminus in Tin Shui Wai.
