“Friends of KMB” Participated in Green Volunteer Scheme
To help the public learn more about trees and plants, “Friends of KMB” (FRN) has participated in the “Sham Shui Po Green Volunteer Scheme” organised by the Sham Shui Po District Leisure Services Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department by putting up new information tags on the trees in the To Yuen Street Playground and the Tai Hang Tung Estate Playground No. 2. On that day, after the organiser briefed the volunteers on the names and features of the various types of trees in the playgrounds, members of FRN put a new tag on each tree. This will help members of the public identify the plants when they relax in the playgrounds.
One of the members of FRN who participated in the event said, “Through today’s activity, I learned to appreciate trees better and I found the subject very interesting. We were also able to enhance the public’s knowledge of the trees around them. I hope that together we can learn how to treasure trees more and also do our bit towards protecting the environment.”
“Friends of KMB” is a volunteer organisation established by KMB. Besides encouraging members to be self-disciplined and to help and serve others by observing simple civic duties when travelling with KMB, the club also organises various charitable events and social service activities for its members in the hope of promoting the spirit of social concern and care for others.
