KMB Launches iPhone App
Route Search and Alight Reminder Bring a Care-free Journey
Starting today, more than one million iPhone/iPad/iPod touch users can download the newly launched KMB iPhone App free of charge. Wherever users are, they will be able to find out which bus routes are on hand, as well as the corresponding bus-stop locations. Users will also be able to receive information on different bus routes and suggestions on bus routes with the fewest en-route stops or the lowest fare to their selected destination. The KMB iPhone App has also pioneered an “Alight Reminder” function, which enables users to enjoy a relaxing and carefree journey.
The newly-launched KMB iPhone App features a cute gold bus as the entering icon. It offers four functions comprising “Point to Point Search”, “Route Number Search”, “Nearby Bus Stop” and “Alight Reminder”. The first three functions provide users with different ways to search for a bus route, offering detailed routings, route maps, timetables and route announcements, as well as photos of every bus stop. In the “Point to Point Search”, when several routes serve the same destination, the system will display the lowest fare option as well as the route with the fewest en-route stops. Users can then make their own choice according to their needs. The powerful “Nearby Bus Stop” function, making use of the iPhone’s Global Positioning System, will automatically identify the location of the user and list all bus routes available and the location of their corresponding bus-stops within 200 metres, enabling users to visit different districts without hassle.
Mr. James Louey, KMB’s Commercial Director, said, “Besides leveraging the rapid developments of the mobile App and being in line with our principle of customer service enhancements, with the launch of the KMB iPhone App, we hope to provide more rapid, more convenient and more accurate bus route information to users, anytime and anywhere. The various functions and the screen layout of the KMB iPhone App have been meticulously designed and have undergone group testing, with the aim of providing users with the most user-friendly services, making every bus journey comfortable and enjoyable.”
Apart from bus route information, the KMB iPhone App is equipped with an “Alight Reminder” function. After boarding a bus, users can set their intended alight stop and click the reminder button. The system will then start emitting an alert sound (or vibration) two bus stops before reaching the selected destination as a reminder to get off the bus.
Mr. Louey continued, “The KMB iPhone App comes in a traditional Chinese, a simplified Chinese and an English version. iPhone users can download the App free of charge and no restrictions have been set. We are preparing to upload the KMB iPhone App to other mobile platforms so that more people can enjoy using it.”
iPhone users who would like to download the KMB iPhone App can go to the iTune App Store and enter “KMB” in the search field for the free download.
